April Market Update:
As interest rates continue to go up, and not down as we had all hoped, I think it’s important to remember that no matter where we are in the real estate cycle Sellers still sell and Buyers still buy. It just looks different.
The key word for both Buyers and Sellers in this market is patience.
For Sellers, it’s important to take the time to prep your home for sale by completing any deferred maintenance, decluttering and staging, and possibly investing in a fresh coat of paint and carpets. For Buyers, don’t waste time at open houses or scheduling showings with your agent until you have partnered with a lender who can walk you through the best financing options for you. And know that inventory is still low, so it may take a month or two…or more to find the right house for you.
For both Sellers and Buyers, this is not the time to try and fly solo. If you didn’t know how to sail in smooth waters, why would you try and sail on your own in choppy waters? You wouldn’t. So don’t make the same mistake with your most important investment, your home. Partner with an agent who has the experience and knowledge to find opportunities where others see obstacles.
